Inbox Triage

Labels new email (Urgent, Reply later, Receipts, Newsletters) and writes reply drafts for you to review. It drafts but never sends.

It drafts, never sends. Inbox Triage writes reply drafts into your Drafts folder. You read them and decide what to send. It never sends or deletes email.

What it does

  • Reads each new email as it arrives (subject, sender and a short snippet).
  • Labels it Urgent, Reply later, Receipts or Newsletters. You can rename or add labels.
  • Writes a suggested reply as a draft for emails that need one.
  • Never sends, never deletes. You stay in control of every message that leaves your inbox.

Who it's for

Anyone who opens their inbox to 50+ new emails and wants the important ones up top with replies half-written, without learning to code.

What you need

  • A Gmail or Outlook account
  • n8n (Cloud or self-hosted), or a custom GPT or Grok Bot for the Prompt version (no Anthropic key needed)
  • n8n version: Uses your own Anthropic (Claude) API key, typically low-cost.

Setup checklist (n8n, about 10 min)

  1. Download the free template from Gumroad with the button above ($0 is fine).1 min
  2. n8n: import the workflow .json. Prompt version: open the prompt file and paste it into a new custom GPT or Grok Bot.1 min
  3. Connect your email account with n8n's own sign-in button. The template only reads, labels and creates drafts.2 min
  4. n8n version: create an Anthropic (Claude) API key in your own Anthropic Console account and add it in n8n's credential screen, never on a GeekLair page. Optional: set a spending limit in the Anthropic Console. (The Prompt version needs no key.)2 min
  5. Pick your labels (Urgent, Reply later, Receipts, Newsletters) or keep the defaults.1 min
  6. Choose the reply tone for drafts (friendly, short or formal).1 min
  7. Click Execute workflow on the test run. You should see 5 sample emails labelled and reply drafts in your Drafts folder. Nothing is sent.2 min
  8. Activate the workflow. Review drafts whenever you like and send the ones you want yourself.<1 min

The Prompt version needs only the import step and your own choices, with no API key. See also how your API keys stay safe.
